*The Unusual Sunday Drop!* #009
_a weekly WA Series_
What’s Cooking with Gen Z (aka Zoomers) today?
In today's world, it has become a challenge to cut screen time. Studies have shown, people who spent more time using devices like TVs, tablets, computers, and gaming consoles were at a higher risk of developing problems like aggression, anxiety, and low self-esteem later in life.
Here are few effective tips which will help you to balance your digitel life and cut down screen time.
Before one start approaching on reducing a screen time, they need to analyse hows their pattern to spend time. Could be, whether its over TV, Tablet, I- Pad, Laptop or mobile. If it’s on a mobile, one can turn on screen-time tracker. It’s present in Android as well as on iPhone devices. By turning on this settings, your mobile will present a report every end of the day showing the analytics of how-much time was spent and which app was utilised more. This gives you a clear picture and helps to setup realistic goals.
Straight to the Point:
Let's establish no screen hours as in no to Phones, TVs and your Lappy. Perhaps, take a walk or me time outdoors without a screen gadget.
Not necessary to look at the screen if an advertise is played in between your favorite video. Just look away from screen until you have an opportunity to skip, its again an opportunity to give your eyes a quick break.
Tech-Free period can be referred as one spending time with family. Could be, Alen discussing about the recess prank with his parents in dinner table conversations rather watching a TV while dining. It’s a strong family-emotional moment.
Turn off unnecessary notifications- Its commonly ignored but to be very impactful. We check our phone on beep, hoping it’s an important message. However, it turns out to be some random notification which doesn’t matter to you anyway. But screen time increases when you start taking steps towards other stuffs in your mobile leads to involve some-more, notification was just a start point. This prepares our subconscious mind to keep checking and its been observed that people check phone messages even though they are not expecting replying from anyone.
Switching to audio books and listening to podcasts, rather watching will straight cut down screen-time to half. Whether you’re walking, cooking, or commuting, listening instead of watching a screen. It’s indeed a smart move.
Thats it! Let's pencil it in and take a first step if any of the above point which talks about sense to you. I am slowing down my fingers tried to keep an article crisp to match my theme by keeping screen-time limited.
I am taking a week break and See ya in my next Sunday drop. Till then you keep rolling. Cheers!
