Stages of Sleep.
Typical sleep cycle lasts about 90-120 minutes. Let’s take a deep dive in two core stages of sleep.
Non-Rapid Eye Movement- This is further divided in 3 stages. Your body is active in this stage hence, one may do sleepwalking. You may dream but these dreams are realistic.
Rapid Eye Movement- This is second stage. Your eyes move rapidly in this stage. In this stage brain is hyperactive. Your body becomes completely paralyzed and also you dream unrealistic and something creative in this stage.
Do you know? Thomas Edison used to sleep on the chair, with ball bearing in his hand. Moment, he shifts from NREM to REM sleeps his body used to become paralyzed as mentioned above and the ball bearing used to fall down, making a loud noise. He used to wake up and note down what he thought of, in dreams on paper kept on the table. This helped him to do many inventions.
Research says, some birds even sleep with one eye open, as half of their brain is alert while the other is asleep (It's known as:Unihemispheric Slow-Wave Sleep- USWS)- Parrots, Mallard ducks and Frigate birds are few of them. They mostly do this when they migrate for long distance. However, they do sleep when they are in troops.

Monkeys/Apes sleep on tree don’t have REM sleep. Because if their body becomes paralyzed, they will fall from the tree.
Dolphins and Whales are the types of fishes who have to come out of water to breath, so that they survive or they will die while they are sleeping. They sleep with half brain active come on the top of the water and again go inside.
7-8 hours of sleep is essential for every human this helps brain to complete all the sleeping cycles and detox- flush-out unwanted thoughts, so that there is a space created for new knowledge and information.
Let's work on that!
